Presoaking Steel Cut Oats
Steel cut oats are not only a good source of fiber, and a quick "out the door & on your way," breakfast favorite; It also serves as a fantastic substitute for this vegetarian, who still has ties to the world of... "Mooos & Cluck, Clucks," via family & friends. However, before I share a few of my favorite "go to" Oat veggie recipes with you... Let's dish about pre-soaking your steel cut oats. Pre-soaking is easy, and cuts down on cook time, Note: Pre-soaking is only advised when using, Steel Cut Oats,(Not instant, or quick cooking oats).
You will need...
1a) 1 cup of steel cut oats, (1 cup for my recipes, e.g. veggie oat patties usually yields about 12 servings, about 3-4 patties per person).
1b) One 24-32 oz glass bowl.
2) 3 cups of warm water
3) 1 Tbl. spn. of Apple Cider Vinegar
Instructions...
1) In the 24-32 oz glass bowl, place your cup of oats, along with the 3 cups of H2o.
2) Add 1 Tbl. spn. of Apple Cider Vinegar, then mixing your ingredients together, in the bowl; cover, and allow all to sit @ room temp. overnight, (about 8-12 hours).
3) Upon soaking completion, in the AM, uncover your bowl, and rinse your oats with cool H2o.
